Palliative Care Research Forum NI
The NI Palliative Care Research Forum, led by Dr Sonja McIlfatrick, hosted a bereavement conference on Thursday 29th March 2012. This is the latest in the series of biannual events hosted by the Forum. The title of this event was: The Impact of Bereavement: Present Research and Future Direction and the Forum were delighted to have Dr Colin Murray Parkes, a recognised international lead and author on bereavement, as the key note speaker. Other speakers included Ms Orla Keegan, Irish Hospice Foundation who gave an overview on Bereavement Research in Ireland and a presentation from the Bereavement Coordinators in Northern Ireland who provided an update on the regional Bereavement Audit. We were also delighted to have a series of abstract submissions and presentations with speakers coming from different parts of Ireland (details on the programme). Seventy delegates attended this event, hosted in Loughview Suite in the University of Ulster and the overall day was evaluated as an overwhelming success.
Some comments from delegates included:
“All abstracts very informative and I was very impressed by the quality of speakers and the content of the studies”.
“It was brilliant to hear about studies conducted across Ireland. Excellent topics and studies were high quality.
Would like to have future events with different researchers presenting projects. Great Study Day. Great variety – thank you”.
The NI Palliative Care Research Forum would like to acknowledge the Health & Social Care Research & Development Division of the Public Health Agency (HSC R&D Division) in Northern Ireland for supporting this event
Copies of presentations will be available to download from this page shortly
